The Total Communication Diary was created by an SNA working in a Autism Classroom.
The aim of this diary is to bridge the gap between home and school communication and to ask the questions that really matter. Gone is the time teachers are left looking at blank copy books and parents have lines and lines to read with no space for their own input.
Recieving information from home about the children is just as important, it allows school staff to make changes to the childs day as needed.
Knowing if a child had a poor nights sleep will allow school staff to lessen the demand for in school participation. If they didnt fancy breakfast that morning, lets us know to offer a snack break earlier that day. Sensory needs of children change when they have issues with sleeping and eating.
The second edition has a yearly planner for important dates, like IEP meetings, Psychologist visits, Teacher training days etc, it also allows more space for teachers to write. It asks the same questions as the successful first edition, I hope this diary has everything that your family needs.
Not every parent or every teacher has the oppertunity to meet eachother in the mornings to relay this information, that is why 'The Total Communication Diary' was created.
